Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the Checkout Engine Shopify App (developed by Digilog Softwares) collects, uses, and protects your data.
1. Information We Collect
To provide our services, we collect and process the following data from your Shopify store:
Merchant Information
- Store Details: Shop domain (
*.myshopify.com), shop name, email, and primary locale.
- App Settings: Preferences you configure within the app, such as Base Delivery Rate and Government Tax Percentage.
Customer & Order Data (Transient)
When a customer reaches checkout, Shopify sends us a request to calculate shipping rates. This request contains:
- Cart Details: Product weights, quantities, and subtotals.
- Shipping Address: Limited address details (Province, City, Zip) required for rate calculation.
- Currency: The currency used for the transaction.
Important: We process this data in real-time to return shipping rates. We do not permanently store end-customer PII (Personally Identifiable Information) such as names, phone numbers, or street addresses.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Calculate Shipping Rates: Compute accurate shipping costs and COD fees based on your configured rules and the cart's weight/price.
- Authentication: Verify your store's identity via Shopify OAuth to ensure secure access.
- Communication: Send critical service updates related to the app (e.g., API changes or downtimes).
3. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your data. We share information only with:
- Infrastructure Providers: Trusted cloud hosting providers (e.g., AWS/DigitalOcean) strictly for the purpose of hosting the application and database.
- Legal Reasons: If required by law enforcement or legal process.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All data transmission between Shopify and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS). Access Tokens (
access_token) are encrypted at rest in our database.
- Access Control: Access to our backend systems is restricted to authorized engineering personnel only.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
- Active Installation: We retain your App Settings and Shop Domain as long as the app is installed.
- Uninstallation: If you uninstall the app, we receive a
shop/redact webhook from Shopify. We will delete your shop's data from our database within 48 hours of receiving this notice.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data.
- Merchants: You can request data deletion by uninstalling the app or contacting us directly.
- End Customers: Since we do not store customer PII, requests to delete customer data should be directed to the Merchant (Store Owner), who handles the primary customer relationship.
